The gate valve operates with a gate that moves up and down in a straight line with the valve stem. Available in 304, 316, and 321 stainless steel materials (designated as Z41H-16P), this valve features a gate that moves perpendicular to fluid flow.
Gate valves are designed for full opening or closing only, not for flow adjustment or throttling. The gate has two sealing surfaces typically forming a wedge shape, with angles varying by valve specifications (usually around 5°, or 2°52' for lower temperatures).
Gates are available as either rigid (solid piece) or elastic (slightly flexible) designs. The elastic gate's flexibility aids manufacturing and compensates for minor sealing surface angle variations.
